Cortical Microtubule Array

Microtubules are nucleated at the cell cortex, and remain attached to the cell cortex along their lengths for the duration of their lifespan. As you can see here, microtubules become highly organized into parallel configurations, and are essential for normal formation of the cell wall. Understanding how these complex organizations emerge is a central theme in plant cytoskeletal biology.
